Dr. Joe Vitale is the president of Hypnotic Marketing, Inc., is an expert in the Law of Attraction, and was featured in both the movie and book called “The Secret”. His own books include “The Attractor Factor, 5 Easy Steps for Creating Wealth (or Anything Else) from the Inside Out”, “Life’s Missing Instruction Manual: The Guidebook You Should Have Been Given at Birth”, and “Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More”.
Equally successful as his books, Joe has also produced a number-one bestselling audio program, “The Power of Outrageous Marketing”. He is, in fact, the world’s first hypnotic marketer, so it’s no surprise he has made millions of dollars, and in the process made millionaires and improved the lives of people all over the world.
Joe Vitale has known since childhood that he wanted to be a writer. His inspiration came from meeting the writer of the “Twilight Zone” series, Rod Serling. In his mind, Joe assumed this phenomenal writer must be a god-like creature, so it was a bit of a disappointment to him to find out Serling was only human. If Serling could write so well, he knew he could, too.
People ask Joe Vitale quite often why he is so successful. His answer is always the same. It’s his drive and enthusiasm. No matter whether his interest at the time is a person, place, or thing, he’ll follow it to the end. He never knows where the end will land him, but he follows his heart anyway.
One of the pursuits Joe chased early in his career was to learn as much as possible about a man named Bruce Barton who was the founder of BBDO. After two long years of research, Joe wrote “The Seven Lost Secrets of Success”. The book has been such a success that it has been reprinted approximately 20 times. He followed his passion down the road it led him, not knowing at the time it would end in a successful book.
There aren’t too many people in this world who can follow their passions and immediately quit their “day job”. Most people struggle for quite some time and lose a lot of money and sleep in the process. Joe is no different. He was poverty-stricken at times, and he had to get meaningless jobs at times to provide for his wife and himself. The dream of writing was never far from his mind, though.
So you’ve dug yourself a hole. The key to getting out of it is to figure out exactly what’s holding you back. Joe realized his family was holding him back. None were writers or avid readers. None understood his drive. It took moving 2,000 miles away to finally overcome his self-worth issues and dig himself out of poverty.
Each of us has a reason why we hit an income ceiling. It’s usually an unconscious reason. Until you figure out what your reason is, you’ll be stuck. For Joe, he realized his ceiling was his father’s railroad worker income. What would it say about his father working countless hours for little pay if Joe worked very little for a large payoff? Only after he overcame that mental battle was he able to make real wealth.
